My book is based on Chris Kyle’s story as a Navy Seal. He starts off his story talking about his training as a Navy Seal. As the book progresses, he talks about his time in the War on Terror and how he had to go fight after the attacks on 9/11. He says in the book “ I say smoke pouring out of the World Trade Center in New York.” This means he was getting ready to go fight. He later became a Sniper and he began killing many terrorist in Afghanistan. He eventually had to leave the war because of family issues and his knees. “ The docs told me I needed to have my legs operated on, but doing that would have meant I would have to take time off and miss the war.” This quote from the book shows his passion and love for our country, and fighting in the war. He knew it was time to leave, but he still wanted to be involved. He moved his whole family to Texas, his home town, and they started a business. He wanted wounded soldiers to experience the outdoors and still be treated like normal people. This was a time where they could shoot guns and have fun. The book ends in Texas with his happy family and his business. It is not stated in the book, but he eventually is killed by one of the soldiers at his business/camp. A movie was later created, and it includes his death. I think this book is important because it includes a whole perspective, and storyline of what it’s like to be a Navy Seal and a Sniper. I think the main takeaway from this book is that there are so many people fighting for our country, and fighting for our freedom. They are keeping us safe and a strong, united country. I think we are very fortunate to live in freedom. I think the most valuable idea from the book is that we are so lucky to live where we do, and we need to be more appreciative towards our country and our freedom. I think this is still valuable today because our country is still fighting in the war today, and so many soldiers are risking their lives every second for our freedom.
